Butterfly Collages - Amy Judd

To create this collage, I was inspired by images that I found on Pinterest, of Amy Judd's work. Amy Judd is a British born, London based artist and painter. Judd's recent Avian work is a collection of sensitive silent moments; some full of whimsical intrigue, others are more surreal and seductive. These paintings draw inspiration from the enchanting and imaginative relationship between women and birds, found in traditional mythologies and folklores. As well as birds and feathers, she also incorporates flowers and butterflies into her paintings, working them over the faces of the women. I really liked these images and this is were I found inspiration for my own work.
The composition, light and positioning of the subject creates curious images, which conjure up new mythical narratives or creatures within the paintings; using feathers as armour. The sensitive brushwork on the figure's flesh complements the delicate patterns of the feathers. However the composition is bold and strong, and the figures not frail and delicate.

This is my piece inspired by Judd's work:
